Bonjour tout le monde,
1. Our conferences have started this week. Please make sure that everyone comes on time. The time of the conference is limited to 30 minutes. Thank you.

4. Practice spelling on spelling city website...Test on Thursday due to no school on Friday!

Novel Study: Final Assignment

For the final assignment, you will have the opportunity to show your understanding of the novel and to show your creativity! This is an individual assignment. THIS PROJECT IS DUE ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17th

Part A: Book Review
Please complete the following using the format below. This section may be typed or neatly written.

Paragraph #1- Summary
You must write a summary of the novel that includes the main ideas of the story for each of the plot line elements (Beginning, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution). Please refer to the Short Story Plot Diagram sheet that we went over in class.

Paragraph #2- Personal Opinion
Tell me what you thought about the characters and the plot of the story. What were your favourite and least favourite parts of the story? Who was your favourite character and why? Give specific examples.

Paragraph #3- Recommendation
Would you recommend this book? If so, to what audience? What rating would you give it? Tell me why you would or would not recommend this book.

Part B: Character Sketches
Please choose 5 characters of the story. For each character, please include:
-a coloured drawing of what they look like (or what you think they look like)
-a written description of their personality traits and their importance/role in the story.

Part C: Creative Activity
Please complete 1 of the following:

1.    Create a diorama of the Underworld. You may use the materials of your choice to create it (ex. modeling clay, construction paper, etc). Please include a written description about your representation of the Underworld that you created.

2.    Research one of the mythological characters of the story. Include a picture of this character and please respond to the following questions:
-Who are they?
-What is their importance to mythology?
-What is their story/background?
-Why does this character interest you?

3.    Create a comic strip of a main event/scene in the story. The comic strip must be at least 6 panels long and must include dialogue between characters and written descriptions of what is happening in the scene.

4.    Create your own book cover for the story. (This includes the front and back). This must be coloured and must include the title and author on the front and your own written description of the book on the back.

5.    Create your own board game representing the story. Your board game must include the necessary pieces needed to play, written directions and rules on how to play your game.
